Welcome to the BVGD – German National Tourist Guide Association

The German National Tourist Guide Association (BVGD) is the umbrella organization of local and regional tourist guides’ associations in Germany. Founded in 1994 in Cologne, it represents more than 200 cities and regions with about 6,000 guides.

The BVGD represents the professional interests of tourist guides with policy makers at both the German and European levels. It is a member of all organizations relevant to the profession.

BVGD guides conduct professional tours in German, English, and many other languages. They provide you with interesting and accurate information on the many historic and natural sights in Germany. All have received basic training, many od them hold a BVGD-training certificate or a certificate in accordance with the European Quality Standard for tour guides (DIN EN 15556).

Important note: As an association, we don´t arrange tours. Visitors can find professional tourist guides in German cities and regions by clicking left on “Find Tourist Guide”. There are links to all local guides’ associations and their special offers.
